Neillsville City Council Approves Room Tax Grants

-The Neillsville City Council approved four grants from the city?s 70% Room Tax Tourism and Promotion and Development Fund.During a Tourism Committee Meeting held on April 2nd, the committee was presented with 6 different requests for the room tax funds. The committee had $17,427.06 available.
The four grant requests approved included 40% of the room tax money going to the Neillsville Chamber of Commerce, which came out to $9,944.80 in this case, $2,500 also going to the Neillsville Chamber of Commerce to use towards a Travel Host Magazine advertising project, $1,750 going to the Neillsville Improvement Corporation for the purchase of a billboard marketing historic downtown Neillsville, $1,000 to the Clark County Economic Development Corporation to use towards the Alice in Dairyland Finals and $1,500 to the Clark County Jail Museum for phone, internet, website and advertising services.
Two grant requests not approved included a non-specific amount to the Neillsville American Legion to help with continuing operations and the purchase of literature distribution display racks from the Neillsville Chamber of Commerce.
Also, with the 4 grants that were approved, the Clark County Economic Development initially asked for $2,000 and the Neillsville Chamber had asked for $3,948 for the Travel Host Magazine ad.
