Marshfield Man Sentenced for Breaking His Dog's Neck

-A Marshfield man was sentenced in Wood County Court Wednesday afternoon for breaking his dog?s neck.At the end of November of 2013, 27-year-old Michael Loftus was walking his dog when he killed the animal by breaking its neck.
He left the body of the dog in a wooded area and took a picture and sent it to a family member. Court documents and authorities didn?t provide a motive for Loftus? actions.
Loftus pleaded no contest to the charges against him as part of a plea deal. He will spend 90 days in jail. Loftus now lives in Minnesota and he has 2 months to make arrangements before he begins his sentence.
