Local FFA Chapters Receive Grants to Help Feed Less Fortunate
Thursday, March 27th, 2014 -- 10:23 AM
(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Five Wisconsin FFA chapters have been awarded grants to help establish programs in their communities to help feed those who may be less fortunate. The Spencer, Unity, Albany, Badger and Big Foot FFA chapters are each getting $2,500 as part of the National FFA's 'Food for All' project. The funds were provided by RAM Trucks, Farmers Feeding the World, the Donaldson Foundation and Monsanto to start new service-learning projects or sustain existing programs they have created to fight hunger locally.
Each of the chapters applied for the competitive grants by explaining their plans to implement a year-long, sustainable project to address hunger in their area. The projects needed to include educational outreach to the community and must involve youth in the design and implementation. The chapters will submit a series of reports throughout their projects and will participate in a program showcase display at the National FFA Convention.
