Live in a Clark County Town? Then You Probably Need to Run Your Water

Thursday, March 20th, 2014 -- 2:16 PM

-Just a reminder, most Clark County cities are asking their residents to run their water as the harsh Winter continues on.

Neillsville, Granton, Greenwood, Owen, Thorp and Abbotsford have all asked their residents to continue to run a thin stream of cold water, the size of a pencil lead, in their homes, business or both. Loyal has not asked all of their residents to continually run water, but they do have about 180 houses running to avoid freeze ups.

The bitter cold temperatures this Winter have pushed frost levels abnormally deep this year. In spots that are clear, like streets, there is 6 to 8 feet of frost. Even though it may be a bit warmer outside, that frost is still down there, surrounding the pipes.

Many cities have asked their residents to run their water until April 1st or until they are instructed otherwise. The cities are also going to adjust customer?s water bills so they are not getting charged for the extra usage.

If you have any further questions, please contact your city hall or utility department.
