Governor Evers Allocating Additional $10 Million to Wisconsin Food Security Initiative

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Gov. Tony Evers is allocating an additional $10 million in federal CARES Act funding to help combat hunger through the Wisconsin Food Security Initiative.
That's after the first round of grants provided $15 million for those in need earlier this year. State Agriculture Secretary Randy Romanski says the money will be shared equally between the Hunger Task Force and Feeding Wisconsin to purchase food for distribution, as well as storage and transportation. "COVID-19 has brought uncertainty for many people, but no one should have to worry about how they'll feed themselves or their family," Romanski said. "The Food Security Initiative has already helped many organizations adjust to the pandemic and provide high-quality, nutritious Wisconsin food products to people in need across our state."
The initiative was launched in May, along with the Wisconsin Farm Support Program that distributed $50 million to agricultural producers throughout the summer.
