Could Be Early Next Week Before Boil and Bottled Water Advisory is Lifted for City of Thorp

-The Public Works Department in Thorp was able to locate the last of the water main breaks Thursday afternoon.Once the repairs were complete, water levels in the water tower stabilized and the system of wells was able to fall into a normal pumping protocol. On Wednesday, the city fed additional chlorine into the system for sanitation purposes.
Once the required levels were reached on Thursday, the city took the first water sample to the lab for testing. The next round of samples will go to the lab today.
Assuming both samples come back clean, the final step will be acquiring DNR approval to lift the boil water order. That theoretically could occur sometime during the weekend, but also may not occur until early next week.
In the meantime, residents should still use bottled water or boil water for consumption, cooking, etc. and residents are also still asked to use municipal water conservatively as the wells had a tough 4 days and it would be ideal to give them some time to rest.
