-The Town of Fremont will be conducting a referendum on April 1st, to ask voters whether or not the Town should accept a grant, which has been awarded, and proceed with construction of a new building to house the Chili Fire Department as well as serve as a Community Center for the Town. The Community Center portion would include space for a food pantry, kitchenette, and meeting area that would be available to the public for functions.
The estimated cost of the project is $728,000.00 with the grant covering 50% of the total cost of the project up to a total of $364,000.00 in funding. The Town of Fremont would be responsible for the remaining costs not covered by the grant funds.
It is estimated that with a 10 year repayment period on the costs not covered by the grant funds, taxpayers would see an increase of $77.60 per $100,000 of assessed property value on their taxes each year for the term of the repayment period.
