UPDATE #2: NEILLSVILLE WATER: Earliest Water Advisory Could Be Lifted is Wednesday

Monday, February 17th, 2014 -- 12:00 PM

-We?ve been receiving a lot of call about the water situation in Neillsville.

As of now, nothing has changed. The city is still under a boil and bottled water advisory, meaning you must boil your tap water or used bottle water for drinking. The water is safe for other purposes including bathing, laundry, etc.

Dave Flynn, the Director of Neillsville?s Public Works Department, said the city tested the water at 8am this morning and they will not get the results back until 8am Tuesday morning. At the same time, they will take another sample Tuesday morning at 8am and they will not get the results back until 8am Wednesday. That means that the earliest the city could lift the boil and bottled water advisory would be Wednesday morning. There needs to be a 24 hour period between each sample.

Also, Memorial Medical Center received a donation of bottled water from Shopko on Friday. The water donation is intended to support patient care at the hospital, clinic and Nursing Care and Rehab but also to limit any potential of illness due to consumption of contaminated water.

Memorial Medical Center, with permission of Shopko, would like to offer any community members in need of water the opportunity to this donated water. The water can be picked up at any time at the back of Memorial Medical Center hospital at the conference room entrance doors. If you know of shut-ins please assist in getting this water to those individuals.
