Make Up Days Discussed at Owen-Withee School Board Meeting

-The Owen-Withee School Board discussed making up the cold days the district used in January.District Administrator Bob Houts, presented to the Board the Department of Public Instruction?s Hours of Instruction worksheet used to determine if the District meets state requirements. With the four days of school closing the district experienced in January, they are at the bare minimum needed to meet the requirements.
The Board voted 6-1 to make up a day on Friday, March 17th. This day originally was a vacation day, but now it will be a regular school day for students and staff.
In employment matters, the Board unanimously approved the hiring of Dan Mears and the head softball coach for the 2014 season.
Also, Mr. Houts showed the Board the evaluation instrument that is used to evaluate head coaches at the end of each season. Mr. Houts completes the evaluation, give it to the coach for their review and meets with the coach to discuss strengths and weaknesses.
