Spreading the Word on Budget Override Referendum Discussed at Owen-Withee School Board Meeting

Thursday, February 13th, 2014 -- 8:26 AM

-The Owen-Withee School Board heard a presentation to start their meeting on Monday.

Kris Karaba brought forward an idea to create a store in school that would sell school related items like supplies and school clothing as well as act as a consignment store for the resale of clothing and other things like sports equipment.

Logistical things like who would run the store, where it would be located and how to manage it were brought up with no definitive answers provided. However, the Board was receptive to the idea as a future Business class project.

In old business, the board unanimously approved the second reading of the 500 series of policies. This makes the 500 series, which deals with Personnel, official District policy.

The Board also discussed strategies to spread the word about the April 1 Budget Override Referendum. Ideas included articles in the O-W Enterprise, community meetings, posters in the lobby at events, a district-wide mailing to local businesses and letters to the editor from the Board. A sub-committee of the Board made up of Julie Wendler, Rick Eloranta, Dee Wells and Paul Heggemeier will meet on Friday, February 21 at 8:30 AM in the high school conference room to discuss ideas.
