Black River Falls Fire Department Responds to Wild Fire
Thursday, March 11th, 2021 -- 2:00 PM
Yesterday evening the Black River Falls Fire Department and DNR fire control were dispatched east of the city for a wildfire.
According to the department, the fire was initially thought to be about 1 acre. Engine 4 began containment efforts and discovered that the fire was much larger than they were first able to see. The Wisconsin DNR arrived and assumed command.
The fire was contained at roughly 15 acres and the DNR remained on scene into the night. The department stated this was their first wildfire of the year and they said it marks a time that we all need to start being careful outdoors.
There were a couple other wildfires in Jackson County yesterday as well. If you have questions about burning restrictions or the current fire danger, here's a link: https://dnr.wi.gov/topic/forestfire/restrictions.asp
