Municipalities Continue the Battle Against Frozen Pipes
Monday, February 10th, 2014 -- 11:05 AM
-As the long and harsh winter continues, many cities are asking residents to keep their water running at all times.Several municipalities have asked residents to turn on a cold water faucet and let it run a small, but constant stream of water to help keep pipes from freezing. The stream should be the size of a pencil lead. The bitter cold winter has forced frost deeper than most winters, wreaking havoc on the pipes.
Augusta, Boyd, Merrillan, Thorp, Fairchild, Cadott and Black River Falls have all asked their residents to continually run their water until further notice.
The Neillsville Public Works Department has had to fix a handful of broken water pipes this winter.
