Listening Session With Representative Bob Kulp, Part 10
Monday, February 10th, 2014 -- 10:00 AM
-Representative Bob Kulp discussed many topics during a listening session held in Marshfield recently.Representative Kulp talked about the Wisconsin income tax.
We're at 4.4% right now, for the lowest tax bracket, and I think the Governor's proposal will take that down to 4%, if I'm remembering my numbers correctly and I believe that I am," said Representative Kulp. "There was some whisper about a grand plan of eliminating the income tax entirely and going to a sales tax. A year and a half ago I was asked to write an article for the Business News in Wausau about the fair vs. flat tax. The fair tax would be a sales tax based way of doing things. I think that would probably be ideal, but how you get to that point to transition so you don't absolutely deplete the state budget, I don't know. I'd have to do more of a study on that."
Representative Kulp is a business owner in Stratford and was elected to replace Scott Suder at the end of last year after his resignation.
