Listening Session With Representative Bob Kulp, Part 7
Wednesday, February 5th, 2014 -- 1:23 PM
-Representative Bob Kulp discussed many topics during a listening session held in Marshfield last week.Representative Kulp talked about the propane shortage affecting the state and the nation.
Representative Kulp said, "The state has already been proactive on this, really back in October. The governor allowed emergency rule, for those who are transporting it, that their hours be extended and accounted for in a different way. So, it didn't catch the state by surprise."
He continued, "Then we have a pipeline shut down for, hopefully, maintenance or the ability to be sustainable as a country long term. Then you have the colder than normal snap. And the latest phenomenon, I haven't had this independently verified, but we all know it happens, is speculators jumping in and saying 'hey prices are going up, my million can be worth a million two in three days and that's a good ride to take.' So, that's the way I see this coming down."
Representative Kulp is a business owner in Stratford and was elected to replace Scott Suder at the end of last year after his resignation.
