Listening Session with Representative Bob Kulp, Part 4
Friday, January 31st, 2014 -- 9:09 AM
-The newly elected Representative of the 69th District, Bob Kulp, held listening session throughout the area on Monday.I attended Representative Kulp?s session at the Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry office and listened as he addressed the concerns of citizens and asked him a few questions.
Representative Kulp talked about the need to show Wisconsin Jr. High and High School students the dignity of the trades.
Representative Kulp said, "What we can probably do better on is where employers are, and to some extent we are, proactively reaching into tech colleges. Beyond that, the governor has proposed to go back into High Schools and Jr. High Schools and talk about the dignity and the value that there is in the trades and manufacturing. Because that really is something that has been, kinda, of lost, especially in the older generation; that you can graduate from a 4-year college and get a job that pays $40,000/$50,000 or you can graduate from a 2-year tech school with a lot less debt and get a job that pays $40,000, $50,000, $60,000, or $70,000.
Representative Kulp is a business owner in Stratford and was elected to replace Scott Suder at the end of last year after his resignation.
