WisDOT Reminds Of Poor Travel Conditions
Sunday, January 26th, 2014 -- 6:49 AM
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) reminds motorists throughout Wisconsin to plan for freezing and potential life-threatening cold winter weather conditions as a mass of arctic airapproached the state Saturday night, Sunday morning, and then will linger during the upcoming week.
Severe winter weather conditions adversely impacted most of Wisconsin late Saturday night,
Sunday, and through early Wednesday afternoon. Snow covered roads, accompanied by blowing and drifting snow will limit visibility and cause extremely hazardous travel conditions. North-south routes will be at the greatest risk.
Motorists may want to cancel or delay travel plans and are advised to reduce speed whenever road conditions are hazardous and visibility is limited. WisDOT and the Wisconsin
State Patrol will closely monitor road conditions as the storm moves through the many regions of the state.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation advises travelers check road conditions before leaving home by calling 5-1-1 or visiting www.511wi.gov.
