Referendum and Board Candidates Discussed at Owen-Withee School Board Meeting

Friday, January 17th, 2014 -- 8:17 AM

-The Owen-Withee School Board discussed their referendum in April and discussed candidates running for a school board seat.

The board unanimously approved the resolution which moved the revenue limit override referendum from February 18th to April 1st. The reason for the move was that there will be no primary held in February. Had the district continued with the February referendum, it would have had to pay for the cost of the election which would have been $5000. The override referendum will now be held on the day of the general, spring election.

In new business, the Board reviewed the individuals who submitted paperwork to run for the Board in the April election. Lonny Klabon and Dean Schmelzer will run for the rural seat that is open, which is currently held by Kris Karaba.

Charlie Milliren will run unopposed for the City of Owen seat, which is currently held by Stephen Heggemeier. As determined by the flip of a coin, Lonny Klabon?s name will appear first on the ballot, followed by Dean Schmelzer.
