Guilty Plea from Inmate Involved in Black River Falls Prison Escape

Monday, January 6th, 2014 -- 8:18 AM

-(LaCrosse Tribune) One of the two men who escaped from the Black River Correctional Center in 2012 and went on a crime spree pleaded guilty Friday to three local charges.

According to the LaCrosse Tribune, James C. Misleveck, 20, pleaded guilty to kidnapping, theft and escaping arrest in Jackson County Circuit Court. The other four felony charges, vehicle theft, armed carjacking, second-degree recklessly endangering safety and armed robbery, were dismissed but will be considered at an upcoming sentencing hearing.

Misleveck and 30-year-old James R. Newman walked away from the minimum-security prison in July 2012, and the crime spree ended when the two were apprehended in Florida.

Misleveck is set to be sentenced in Jackson County Circuit Court on March 28. Newman has a pre-trial conference set for Jan. 15.
