To Some Wisconsin Lottery Not Living Up To Billing

It?s been Twenty-five years since the Wisconsin Lottery sold its first ticket, and the game has generated $3.5 billion in property tax relief.Lottery officials say they're pleased with that, but others say the lottery hasn't lived up what was predicted when state residents first voted to authorize the game.
A Post-Crescent Media report says the average property tax credit was over $100 in the 1990s. For most of the 2000s it's been less than $100.
Republican state Sen. Robert Cowles says analysts were predicting the lottery would cut property tax bills in half. He says that was misguided. Todd Berry of the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance says the reduction is more in the 1 percent range now.
Since 1988 the game has generated more than $11 billion in sales.
