Fire at Apartment/Duplex in Jackson County

-The Black River Falls Fire Department was paged by the Jackson County Emergency Dispatch Center on December 20th, just before midnight for smoke coming from a roof vent of an apartment building/duplex.The location of the fire was 205 East Second Street in the Township of Brockway.
Upon arrival, the department saw smoke venting out a roof vent. No flames were visible at this time. The fire was found to be located above the kitchen. Occupants of both apartments were evacuated from the structure.
The cause of the fire is not known for sure at this time but, electrical wiring to a ceiling light in the kitchen is being looked at. A total damage estimate is not known at this time.
The owner of the property, Charles Bennett of Mineral Point does have insurance on the property. The occupants of the duplex are Shawn and Nicole Fayerweather on the second floor and Kyle Rott and Konstanze Brown on the ground floor. The occupants are being assisted by the Red Cross.
No civilian or firefighters injuries were reported.
