Resolutions Passed At Clark County Board Of Supervisors Meeting
Saturday, December 21st, 2013 -- 9:08 AM
Several resolutions were passed at the Clark County Board of Supervisors Meeting on Wednesday eveningOne resolution passed was the county board recommend that a nonpartisan procedure for the preparation of any redistricting done in the state.
In the past, when redistricting was done, it always seemed to be to the benefit of whichever party is in power. Many people and Democrats have criticized the Republican Party, as the recent redistricting seemed to have been advantageous for them in recent elections.
Not only is this process costly, the 2011 redistricting cost Wisconsin taxpayers $1.9 million, but it?s also controversial. This resolution recommends that if it?s done in the future that a non-partisan group draws up the maps, offer more transparency, more accountability and make sure there are no outside influences when making the decision. The measure passed with 27 voting yes and 1 voting no.
