Sunday, December 8th, 2013 -- 10:16 AM
-Memorial Medical Center of Neillsville was awarded as one of the Best Hospitals in Patient Experience in Emergency Care by the 2014 Women?s Choice Award.I spoke with David Baltzer, Interim CEO of MMC, and Jodi Johnson, Vice President of Patient Care Services at MMC, about the award.
Both Mr. Baltzer and Miss Johnson said that they are still learning about the award itself as they were chosen for this national award, out of the blue, without any solicitation by MMC.
Mr. Baltzer and Miss Johnson said that MMC was chosen for the best patient experience in emergency care.
Miss Johnson said, "Within Wisconsin there are 15 facilities total that received this award, but it can be received for obstetrics or patient experience or heart care and orthopedics so you can be acknowledge for different areas. But we were acknowledged for patient experience, which I think, is even more phenomenal because our patients took the time to fill out a survey saying we're the best."
Mr. Baltzer added, "Specifically this award is for emergency care. Emergency care always looms as the #1 most important thing whenever there is a customer survey in healthcare. Emergency care is what always comes to mind."
MMC will be recognized for the award in an issue of USA Today being printed on January 31st. Stay tuned for more this week and make sure you tune to 1370AM WCCN at 9am on Wednesday morning for a bonus edition of the In Depth Program about the award.
