Friday, November 29th, 2013 -- 10:11 AM
Transportation safety and law enforcement officials are hoping for a safe Thanksgiving travel period.Sunday (12/1) is expected to be an especially heavy traffic day as deer hunters and holiday travelers make their return trips home.
The formula for safe highway travel is simple: buckle-up, keep a careful eye on your speed, weather conditions, and the possibility of slowing traffic.
Last year, five people died in traffic crashes in Wisconsin during the Thanksgiving holiday period which runs from 6 p.m. Thanksgiving night to midnight on Sunday.
