Ground Breaking Ceremony Held for New Holland's Family Cheese Facility
Monday, November 18th, 2013 -- 8:26 AM-Holland?s Family Cheese held a ground breaking ceremony for their new location near Thorp on Friday.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Secretary, Mark Gottlieb was on hand to present the City of Thorp with a TEA grant, Transportation Economic Assistance grant, worth $165,000 to help with the construction of a new city street and intersection to benefit the expansion of Holland?s Family Cheese.
The Gouda cheese manufacturer is building a new milking cow facility, cheese factory and creamery in Thorp. The $5.1 million investment will triple the size of Holland?s Family Cheese and double its annual production. The expansion project will create and retain 33 jobs in Clark County.
Marieke and Rolf Penterman, the owners of Holland?s, were very happy to see all those that turned out for the ground breaking including Mark Gottlieb, Senator Terry Moulton, Alice in Dairyland Kristen Olson, chamber members, community members and city officials.
