Wenzel Receives Marshfield Clinic's Heritage Award

-Frederick Wenzel saw Marshfield Clinic through one of its most significant periods of growth and has continued to play a prominent role in driving health care and education forward.For his more than 60 years of service to health care, education and business, Wenzel on Thursday night was named the 16th recipient of the Clinic?s Heritage Award.
Wenzel, a Marshfield native, is a member of the Marshfield Clinic Health System Board of Directors. He joined the Clinic in the early 1950s and served as director of Laboratories. He soon was named executive director of Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation, known then as Marshfield Medical Foundation. His passion for health care, research and education ?goes back to my beginning,? Wenzel said.
Receiving the award ?was a great surprise,? Wenzel said. ?When I look at those who?ve already received the award, I was so pleased to be placed within that number.?
