Stanley Woman Enters Plea for Embezzlement Charges

A Stanley woman entered a plea for embezzlement in Chippewa County Court on Thursday.

According to court records, Karen Towberman is accused of embezzling $35,000 from the promotional business Dean & Associates.  Towberman stole the money over a 3-year period.  Towberman, as the office manager, had access to the company’s finances.

During her court appearance on Thursday, Towberman pleaded guilty to two counts of theft of a business setting.  She’s scheduled for sentencing at the end of May.
