Local Trucking Companies Awarded Grant from WI DOA

-A few local trucking companies have received grants from the Wisconsin Department of Administration.The DOA announced that it?s awarding nearly $1 million in diesel truck idling reduction grants to 52 Wisconsin motor carriers. These grants will help fund diesel truck idling reduction technologies.
Idling reduction units provide an alternative source of power to heat, cool, or provide electricity to the cab and parts of the truck in lieu of operating the truck?s main drive engine. In Wisconsin, more than 13,000 long-haul heavy-duty trucks idle overnight for required rest stops, using almost 14 million gallons of fuel per year. Idling reduction technology can reduce the amount of fuel used without compromising driver comfort or vehicle equipment operations.
Some local companies that will receive a portion of this grant include K&S Carriers, LLC in Greenwood which was awarded one unit with the amount being $5,287.50, Weiler Transport, LLC in Unity was awarded one unit with the amount being $5,287.50, and KAL Trucking, LLC in Black River Falls was awarded one unit with the amount being $3,872.
