Two People Arrested After High Speed Chase in Marshfield

(WDLB) A 31-year-old Madison man and a 26-year-old Janesville woman were taken into custody after a high-speed chase through the center of Marshfield.

According to WDLB, the incident occurred Wednesday on Highway 13 and Veterans Parkway. The suspect vehicle had been involved in a gas drive off in Marshfield earlier in the day, and was identified at that time as a stolen vehicle from Madison.

The vehicle was spotted by Spencer Police and followed toward Marshfield on Highway 13 until other officers tried stopping the vehicle. The driver accelerated to speeds nearing 90 miles per hour and drove into oncoming lanes of traffic.

Tire deflation devices and other techniques were used by officers to try stopping the vehicle, which became disabled on East Veterans Parkway near South Palmetto Avenue.

That’s where the driver and passenger were arrested. Officers then discovered 81 grams of MDMA, or Ecstasy. The Madison man is being charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Without the Owner's Consent, Operating While Intoxicated and After Suspension, Reckless Driving, Fleeing an Officer, Possession with the Intent to Deliver Ecstasy, Possession of T-H-C, and Bail Jumping.

The female passenger’s charges are still under review at this time. Wood County Sheriff’s deputies assisted the Marshfield Police in the case.
