Neillsville City Council Meeting Update
Saturday, October 19th, 2013 -- 7:21 AM
Several items were approved at the Neillsville City Council Meeting on October 8th.The council approved the submission of the taxi grant with Clark County. As Neillsville?s population has dipped below 2,500, the city must co-op with the county in order to continue to receive state aid.
The council also accepted a donation for economic development that was given by Kwik Trip during their grand opening Ceremony in September.
The council approved three annual payments of $10,000 from the Wisconsin Housing Preservation Corporation in lieu of taxes. Taxes were frozen, so the council approved the payments instead. WHPC provides low income housing for the area.
Finally, the council made further progress with the building on Hewitt Street. The repairs are done and the total came to $13,879.82, but that?s not including electrical work. The city can?t outright sell the building, but they can force the owner?s hand by finding a buyer or they will lose to the city due to the $13,000 liens. The building is for sale, listed at $30,000.
