Clark County 2014 Budget

-The Clark County Board of Supervisors got their first look at the 2014 budget at their meeting last week.For 2014, Clark County is looking at a proposed levy of $13,348,544. This equals to a mil rate of 7.499 compared to last year?s 7.503. To help put it into further context, a $100,000 home in the county will see a $.42 decrease in their taxes. Keep in mind there could be some change as final numbers have not been included yet.
The levy limit the county has to follow has only allowed an increase based on the net new construction plus the amounts for the library, bridge and culverts. For 2014, that number was 1.606%.
Health insurance was a controversial piece of this budget as Clark County has once again increased the premiums for the county employees. There were items that the finance committee had different departments revise in order to better balance the budget including asking the Sheriff?s Department to reduce expenditures and transferring money from different departments and balance to other areas.
