Loyal School District Scores Well on Department of Public Instruction's Report Cards

-The Department of Public Instruction released the school report cards for the 2012-2013 school year.

This year the DPI not only released school report cards for elementary and middle/high schools, but they also released report cards for the districts as a whole. In both cases, schools are graded on four categories and they are student achievement, student growth, closing the gaps and post-secondary readiness.

The Loyal School District scored very well. The district as a whole scored a 70.9 falling into the meets expectations category, the elementary scored a 73.3 falling into the exceeds expectations category, the middle school scored a 70.5 falling into the meets expectations category and the high school scored a 71 falling into the meets expectations category. The district, middle and high school just missed the exceeds expectations category by 2.1, 2.5 and 2 points.

In the different categories the district as a whole scored a 62.5 for achievement, 62.4 for growth, 69.9 for closing gaps and 88.9 for post-secondary readiness. The elementary scored a 63 for achievement, 66.2 for growth, 74.1 for closing gaps and 89.7 for post-secondary readiness. The middle school scored a 62.4 for achievement, 55.9 for growth, 72.4 for closing gaps and 91.1 for post-secondary readiness. Finally, the high school scored a 60.8 for achievement, 69.7 for closing the gaps, and 88.3 for post-secondary readiness. Student growth for the Loyal High School was not scored.
