Saturday, September 14th, 2013 -- 7:21 AM
The Neillsville City Council heard a report from the Department of Public Works to start off their Tuesday Meeting. The usual amount of work was done in the city the past couple weeks. The works crew maintained the parks and cemetery, watered flowers, opened storm drains, did street sweeping, hauled brush and compost and much more.
Some other items of note include the department getting ready to install the new playground unit in Listeman Park. They are waiting for the final round of asphalt for East 7th Street and they worked with the sewer department in replacing old brick and stone manholes on South Grand Avenue.
They also worked with the water department in replacing a water leak on West 5th Street, which was right in front of city hall, and replacing a leaking water valve on West 5th Street and Grand Avenue.
Dave Flynn, Director of Public Works, mentioned that the work on the Christie Building is moving along well. The main floor beam has been replaced which has leveled off the floor and the entire building. The fire hazards are being worked on now. Also, Dave sent a letter to the owner of the property at 303 W. 15th Street where a fire occurred because work on the property has slowed.
