A Self-Evaluation, Summer School Numbers and More at Owen-Withee School Board Meeting
Friday, September 13th, 2013 -- 9:16 AM
-A self-evaluation, summer school numbers and more was discussed at the Owen-Withee School Board Meeting on Monday. The Board will, once again, complete a self-evaluation on the perceptions on how well the Board is working together. A special meeting will be schedule in October to allow the Board a chance to discuss the results of the survey.
Owen-Withee?s summer school report for 2013 shows that the District added 18 full time equivalent students to its membership for the 2013-14 school year. Summer school students count as 40% of a student for aid purposes, so the District added 7 students to its count. At roughly $10,000 per student, that means an additional $70,000 in funding for this school year.
Preliminary figures shows Owen-Withee?s enrollment down about 15 students from last year. Enrollment will become official on the third Friday of September. As enrollments declines, it has a long term impact on the district?s revenue limit. The district does receive a declining enrollment exemption for this year to help offset the impact of losing 15 students.
Finally, the Board nominated Rick Eloranta as a nominee for the Region 5 representative on the Wisconsin Association of School Boards Board of Directors. Rick currently holds this position.
