-Last week, Marshfield resident Scott Nobel was in Neillsville to announce his candidacy for the 69th Assembly seat.Noble is a life-long area resident, former Marshfield Alderman, special education teacher, certified social worker, and long-time champion of limited government, fiscal responsibility and individual rights, according to his press release.
Noble said it wasn?t so much that he chose to get into the race, he was recruited.
"I've been involved in politics dating back to the common council days, but over time I just kept hearing from more and more people and I realized I didn't have much of choice. I was recruited. I guess the tea party wants a candidate and I'm the only one."
Noble also said that if there are changes that the 69th district wants, he?ll help make those changes at the state level.
"I've been hearing it here today. People are frustrated with the Clark County Board and they're concerned about the school districts of Marshfield and the school districts around here. I think a lot of people see that if you want to deal with a lot of these issues things can't just happen at the local, micro level. Things have to happen at the state level. It's a unique opportunity that you can deal with federal issues at the state level."
Noble also mentioned an item specific to Clark County.
"Smart growth. I think that's one that is particularly interesting to Clark County. People are a little disenchanted with the Clark County Board. When you get a 74% vote saying 'no we don't want it,' to me if I'm on the city council or Clark County board, I'm saying that's an easy one to figure out what to do if just half the people vote."
Noble also took the time to thank Scott Suder for all the work he?s done.
