Wednesday, September 4th, 2013 -- 6:44 AM
-The Neillsville City Council heard a public works report at their meeting last week. The usual amount of work was done in the city including, mowing, up keep of the parks and cemetery, street sweeping, watering flowers, patching pot holes and more.
The city is working on the last of the repaving and the city was also working with the sewer department on replacing some old stone and brick manholes.
The water department had to replace a water leak on 5th street and the public works department did receive some complaints from people about having their water shut off without notice, but it had to be done while repairs were going on.
Finally, Dave Flynn, Public Works Director, mentioned that most of their summer help is gone due to kids going back to school.
Also, he mentioned again that the equipment maintenance fund has gone well into the red, especially since they had to pay $1,100 to have the drive shaft on their front end loader replaced. He mentioned that the city may need to purchase a new one which can cost around $140,000.
