-Some final items for the Neillsville School District?s Annual Meeting.During the Annual Meeting, John Gaier, Neillsville?s District Administrator, talked more about the school voucher program taking effect in Wisconsin.
The simplified and basic premise of the voucher program is that students that attend a private school can now get state aid, when before it was only the public schools that could receive that aid.
Mr. Gaier offered up several facts and his opinion on the voucher system, but he also brought up an interesting thought. Has the American Dream died? Mr. Gaier said that for the first time, people today feel that their children will have things worse as they get older not better.
Mr. Gaier also mentioned the National Science Foundation Grant that was written with CVTC for $750,000. This money will be used to make a trailer that can travel from school district to school district and have a mock manufacturing set up inside to help teach students about the manufacturing process.
The $30 million Race to the Top Grant with CESA 10 was also mentioned and the steps the schools would take if the grant is received.
