-An Abbotsford man was arrested after he led authorities on a high speed chase Tuesday night.According to the Colby-Abbotsford Police Department, 24-year-old Jorge Mendoza-Ortiz was driving the wrong way down a street closed for road construction in Abbotsford.
Mendoza ran from officers just after 10pm and the chase took them East on Highway 29, south to Highway F in Marathon County and then back into Colby via Highway N. He also drove down many city streets in Colby. Mendoza allegedly reached speeds in excess of 75 mph during the chase.
Officers were finally able to stop Mendoza by using a series of pit maneuvers to disable his vehicle. When they questioned him about why he ran, Mendoza said he took off ?because every time the officers stop me I get a ticket.?
Mendoza was transported to the Clark County jail with a $1,000 cash bond set against him. Charges of willingly fleeing an officer are pending.
