Clark County Board of Supervisors Approves First Reading of County Gun Ordinance
Wednesday, August 28th, 2013 -- 8:22 AM
-The Clark County Board of Supervisors approved the first reading of the county?s new gun ordinance.Sheriff Greg Herrick strongly encouraged them to accept this ordinance calling it more ?user friendly.? By passing this ordinance it would take a misdemeanor crime and turn it into a civil forfeiture. Meaning instead of having a criminal record you would have a forfeiture fine similar to that of a speeding ticket. In other words you pay money and money only for your charge. There would be no misdemeanor crime for a penalty.
There was a part amended in the ordinance as the transportation of a firearm in a vehicle didn?t match the new Wisconsin law that was passed very recently.
In the end, the first reading was approved, but not before several board members went off on a tangent regarding second amendment rights, concealed carry signs on municipal buildings and several other items.
