School Tax Levy Approved at Neillsville School District's Annual Meeting

-The Neillsville School Board and a handful of Neillsville residents approved the school tax levy at the school district?s annual meeting.Going through the figures provided in taxes the district is expecting $3,239,474.00 for the 2013-2014 budget and that number has gone down significantly compared to the previous school year when it was $3,683,769.
In state aid, the district figured how much they will receive. Keep in mind that the number isn?t final as the state will not certify the amount until October 15th. For the 2013-2014 budget, the district will see $5,838,492.00 compared to $5,518,109.00 for the previous year. State aid is based off of property value and District Administrator John Gaier did admit that he?d be surprised if the amount remained that high.
Expenditure for the upcoming school year did increase by $195,000 compared to last year. This year, the district is expecting expenditures to be $10,200,873.00 compared to $10,005,166.80.
In the end, the board and residents approved the 2014 levy of $3,650,974 which is a considerable drop compared to last year?s $4,152,918. In terms of mill rate, Neillsville is below the state and county average at 9.44. The county average is 10.17 and the state's is 10.21.
