-Bob Kulp, a local business owner in Stratford, announced his candidacy today for the Wisconsin State Assembly?s 69th District. His announcement is in response to Representative Scott Suder?s decision to retire the seat in order to pursue a position with the state Public Service Commission. Kulp, who has never held elected office, believes his business experience and vision will be a new voice helping move the district and state forward.
?Scott Suder has done a great job representing our district in Madison and it is my intention to maintain the same high level representation,? Kulp shared. ?I am committed to listening and talking with people of our district and making sure they are heard in Madison. As a small business owner, I?ve always been engaged in the political process from a distance. However, I jumped at this opportunity because I could directly influence public policy to make a positive difference for citizens and businesses of this district.?
In the press release it states that Kulp is the founder and owner of four local companies built upon a foundation of hard work, value and strong morals. His success has resulted in recognition on the local, regional and national levels, being named Vice President of The National Roofing Contractors Association and a member of the U.S. Small Business Administration Regulatory Fairness Board. Kulp?s of Stratford, his roofing company, also received recognition as The Wausau Region Chamber of Commerce ?Small Business of the Year? in 2012. He also is a strong advocate for alternative energy, actively promoting solar power and compressed natural gas as a fuel source. Kulp balances an active work life with a more active family life with his wife Laura, their seven children and three grandchildren.
?The experience gained from running four companies combined with a passion to make a difference has prepared me to effectively represent the good people of the 69th District. With a strong campaign team already in place, I?m excited and energized to hit the ground running and look forward to meeting area residents over the coming weeks,? Kulp concluded.
