-Some local school districts could be in the running for a large grant through CESA 10 once again.About a year ago, a consortium of 28 school districts, many from our area, and Cooperative Educational Service Agency 10, or CESA 10, applied for a grant through the federal Race to the Top program.
The group?s proposal was a finalist, the only one from Wisconsin, and would have brought 30 million dollars to support teaching and learning in the region, but they didn?t receive the grant.
However, the Consortium has learned that another round of the Race to the Top grant would be available and they have begun to update its proposal and harness the feedback provided by grant reviewers during the first round. They are going to ask for $25 million this time around.
The goals of the districts under CESA 10 are to personalize the learning process, integrate new technologies to engage students at higher levels, provide training and support for teachers and provide training and support to engage parents and families.
Another priority they have is to increase the amount of feedback from stakeholders both in the development of the proposal and, if funded, throughout the entire grant period.
On September 11th, the Consortium will make the proposal available to the public and will invite over a hundred municipal leaders to provide comment and feedback.
