Many Items Discussed at Owen City Council Meeting

-Many items were discussed at the Owen City Council Meeting last week.Gary Smith, Public Works Director of Owen, reported the department is presently flushing fire hydrants. Also, he said the drainage issue between 3rd and 2nd Street has been modified and should take care of the problem. Finally, for future budgeting purposes, Gary mentioned that 4th Street from the railroad to N. Paul Avenue needs new sewer and water mains and street.
The council approved Resolution #2013-29 amending the 2013 Police Budget by re-allocating $7,000 from attorney fees and re-allocating $1,500 to training, $1,500 to ammunition, $2,100 uniform allowance, $400 to taser outlay, $1,000 to operating and $500 office supplies.
The council also approved outside employment for John Stubbe as an officer.
The council then discussed amendments to Title 13 of the Owen Zoning. The Planning Commission held a Public Hearing on August 7th and approved the amendments and recommend to the Council for adoption. The council voted to table that issue for the time being.
