-Clark County is part of an initiative that focuses on improving the health and overall well-being of citizens in the county.Amy Jahnke, with the Clark County Health Department, provided me with a thorough background on the Eat Right, Be Fit Coalition.
"The Eat Right, Be Fit Coalition started about 10 years ago," said Amy. "It's a group of individuals and volunteers that meet monthly, right now because we're doing some strategic planning, but typically they meet every couple months and they work on priorities dealing with nutrition and food security, physical activity and breast feeding."
The coalition was able to obtain a grant to help with their initiative.
"The Clark County Health Department and Eat Right, Be Fit co-applied for this grant. It's a Transform Wisconsin Grant and the focus of the grant is active communities. The county had 3 different options. One was tobacco free, the next was food systems and the final one was active communities," Amy said.
In Abbotsford, they've started a wonderful project to help people live a healthier lifestyle.
"One initiative that we're working on with the City of Abbotsford is participatory photo mapping," Amy said. "This process involves individuals in the community taking cameras and going out and taking different pictures of places they recreate."
