-A Thorp man has been found guilty of having sex with a minor.Scott Bergman, age 44, who was an assistant track coach at the Thorp High School, was arrested for having sex with a 17 year old student last November. After he made bail, he was arrested again in March for continuing to see the student.
Bergman had several charges filed against him including sexual assault of a student by school staff, two counts of sex with a child age 16 or older, possession of child pornography, and two counts of felony bail jumping.
Bergman did plead no contest to the felony bail jumping charge and the sexual assault of a student by school staff. The two counts of sex with a child 16 or older, the second felony bail jumping and the possession of child pornography were dismissed, but read into the record. Judge Todd Wolf then found Bergman guilty due to the no contest pleas.
When sentenced, Bergman could face a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison, a $20,000 fine or both.
He will be sentenced on the 17th of September.
