Red Cross Blood Drive in Thorp Today, Emergency Need for Donations
Tuesday, July 23rd, 2013 -- 8:21 AM
-The American Red Cross has an emergency need for blood and platelet donors of all types.Eligible donors with types O negative, A negative and B negative blood are encouraged to donate double red cells where available.
Donations were down about 10% in June, resulting in approximately 50,000 fewer donations than expected. In addition, a mid-week Independence Day holiday reduced the number of blood drives scheduled at the beginning of this month.
With schools out of session and many regular donors busy or on vacation, it's important to remember that patients don?t get a break from needing blood. The need is constant.
There?s a blood drive happening today from 12pm-6pm at the Thorp Fire and Ambulance District Station.
