Wisconsin Waters Returning to Normal Levels
Sunday, July 14th, 2013 -- 6:42 AM
-The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says water levels on many lakes and rivers in central and southern areas of the state are finally beginning to drop.Much of the state got rain in the last week, while northern Wisconsin received several inches. The DNR says the Flambeau River remains high, but the St. Croix, Wolf, Baraboo, Rock, Wisconsin and Mississippi rivers have all been going down. Sandbars have finally returned to the Lower Wisconsin State Riverway.
With all the rain, the berry crop in some areas looks better than it has in years. Juneberries, blueberries, and even some raspberries have started to ripen. The DNR expects the upcoming blackberry crop to bring high yields.
