-A Medford girl accused of lying to officials about a bomb threat at the Medford School District has had a bench warrant issued against her.The 17-year-old allegedly lied to school officials back in February saying she had overheard a bomb threat in the girls? bathroom at the district.
As a result over 72% of the student body at Medford was absent on February 22nd. She was arrested on that Friday and charges of obstructing an officer and bail jumping were filed against her. She was released on a $1,000 signature bond and the courts allowed her to reside in Michigan with a relative.
The girl was supposed to appear in court for a sentencing hearing on Monday of this week, but failed to show up, this being the second time that?s happened.
The girl?s lawyer asked that the judge give the 17-year-old a chance to contact the Taylor County Court by the end of the day Tuesday. The judge agreed, but the girl failed to do so.
The bench warrant has been issued for the girl and prosecutors were prepared to offer her a plea deal had she shown up on Monday.
