Thorp Man Found Guilty of High Speed Chase

-A Thorp man that led police on a high speed chase in Lincoln County has reached a plea deal.According to an officer?s report, back in January, Gary Hempleman, age 44, passed an officer on Highway 51 near Highway J in Irma going 84 mph in a 65 mph zone. When the officer pulled out to stop Hempleman, he turned onto Highway V and sped up.
The officer said that while Hempleman did brake, he didn?t stop at a stop sign on Highway V and Highway H. He continued through the intersection and then crashed at Chase Hill Drive.
Hempleman reached a plea deal and the two felony charges of fleeing and officer and disorderly conduct were dropped down to misdemeanor charges. The other charges of speeding, reckless driving, failing to obey a stop sign, and deviating from the lane of traffic were dismissed but read into the record.
Hempleman did enter a plea and was found guilty. He will spend 24 months on probation and spend 15 days in jail.
