Election Item and Open Records Policy at Clark County Board of Supervisors
Thursday, May 23rd, 2013 -- 8:13 AM
-The Clark County Board of Supervisors showed their support of an election item and voted to approve a new open records policy at the Tuesday meeting.Clark County Clerk, Christina Jensen, asked the supervisors to support a resolution that would allow machine or hand count during an election if a recount is needed.
Legislation up for consideration would only allow the device that originally counted a ballot count it again during a recount. Christina feels it is better to have the option to hand count as many feel it's more accurate. Using a machine to recount is costly as well.
The Board of Supervisors also approved a recreated open records policy.
The new policy made a few minor changes including who will see the request and approve it and the cost per page. It also touches on costs and fees if a certain amount of time is used obtaining large documents.
