Friday, May 3rd, 2013 -- 8:29 AM
-A Stanley Prison inmate had a preliminary hearing in Chippewa County Court on Tuesday. On April 15th of last year, Paul Golden confronted a female guard during a contraband search and attacked her and another guard. Both guards suffered minor injuries in that incident.
Golden has two felony charges of battery by prisoner filed against him. Probable cause was found during the hearing, so the matter will proceed to trial as of now.
Another Stanley Prison inmate was found not guilty of two charges of battery by prisoner in a similar incident. In April of last year, Vern Stone hit a guard searching his cell with a TV cable and the guard was hurt while blocking the cable with his hands.
Stone was found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect and a judge decided that Stone should receive treatment, but that won?t occur until after he finishes his 10 year sentence on a separate conviction.
